Soul is the one hidden behind the Veil,not because its
temperate but because experience of soul
is hard for normal consciousness to grasp.Also representing the two types of love we may encounter:
"mystical" love and "sensual" one (want of better words).

this reminds me of Andrew Marvell's poem 'A Dialogue Between The Soul And Body' very good poem you should read it. This is a very well done piece.
